Lecture 9 Geometry: NURBS; Visual Programming - Data Stream Matching and Functions

  1. Geometry: NURBS - Experiments

  2. Visual Programming
The Grasshopper Primer (second edition) (both PDF and Grasshopper/Rhino Source Files)
In this class, we will study the following sections:

      1. Data Stream Matching
    • 7.2 Conditional Statements
    • 7.2 Range vs. Series vs. Interval
Note about the availability of Grasshopper Primer (third edition) (click "Download raw file" on the right side of the window.)
  3. Homework

    3.1 Geometry Modeling with Rhino
Continue "Self-paced reading and exercise of Rhino Level I and II Training Guides" assigned from previous lectures.

    3.2 Parametric Modeling with Grasshopper
Study The Grasshopper Primer (second edition) (both PDF and Grasshopper/Rhino Source Files)
Re-Create the sample Grasshopper models in the following chapters/sections. Save the resulting files (and maybe screenshots if you think they are good to demonstrate your work).

      1. Data Stream Matching
    • 7.2 Conditional Statements
    • 7.2 Range vs. Series vs. Interval
    • 7.3 Functions & Booleans
    • 7.4 Functions & Numeric Data
    • 7.5 Trigonometric Curves
      1. The Garden of Forking Paths
    • 8.1 Lists & Data Management
    • 8.3 Shifting Data
Organize your Rhino and Grasshopper files using subfolders for the tasks, and save all into _Homework5_YourFirstname_YourLastname_folder.

    3.3 Submission
Zip the Homework5_YourLastname folder into Homework5_YourFirstname_YourLastname.zip.
Submit the zip file to TAMU Canvas: http://canvas.tamu.edu/
